Always coming up short no way out, every success plagued by doubt, this chip on my shoulder gains weight as I grow older. A thousand choices choke my hope, the weight I carry home. But when I hold you in my arms I dont feel so alone. Every chord. I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Every word. Hope is kindled by the smallest of signals.
Cant you see its coming down on me, taking a toll. This city is killing dreams one by one. Bringing us all to our knees, forced into moulds to fit their needs, I feel my future fading fast that way of life can't last. Every chord and every word. In the arrogance of youth I said that wont be me. I found my purpose set me free. Every chord, every word, means something more.
All this will end one day, you'll forget my name, in our darkest moments, these memories remain.
